Gatekeepers

Over the past few months I've been working on a new series of paintings centred around old doorways and the stories they might hold.

I've always loved weathered architecture, faded colours and worn entrances that feel as though they've witnessed hundreds of lives passing by. These paintings imagine those places as gateways into another world.

Standing outside each doorway is an animal – a gatekeeper of sorts – quietly guarding the threshold and inviting us to wonder what lies beyond.

Alongside the larger paintings I've also been creating ink drawings on vintage book pages, altered books and small narrative fragments. Together they build a world that feels part memory, part storybook and part imagination.

Rather than telling a fixed story, I'm hoping to create space for viewers to invent their own.

Some stories aren't written.

You have to step into them.
